How do you all figure your price on maintaining beds. Do you charge per man hour or so much per square ft. Thanks in advance for any information!

Charge per man hour plus materials.

I think it depends. If you spreading mulch, then charge a certain amount per yard applied. If your pulling weeds, charge your hourly labor rate, with a minimum. And if you digging out bushes or something, I would charge a certain amount per each one. That's how I would charge for stuff.

I've learned through experience to estimate the amount of time ("man hours") that each property should take, how frequently it will need to be visited, etc.

The majority of our maintenance customers are charged a monthly rate, though we still do have a couple of hourly customers.

Also, often times it's difficult to justify to people why a "gardener" commands rates upwards of $30/hour...

I am looking at trimming shrubs, weeding. fertilizing shrubs, that type of thing. Mulching would be an entirely different quote and price.
