it's not exactly plastic. it's nexite. go find an old football helmet and throw a rock at it hard as you can. it doesn't break. it will never rust either. they drove an suv ontop of the deck and it didn't break. nothing to worry about. don't be afraid of new technology.

Seriously if it was me with limited $ to start I'd go Honda HRX or a personal pace Toro TimeMaster 30 for more $. Skip the lawns that really NEED a 21".

They have a a Timemaster in the showroom at my dealer. Ive actually given it some thought, but my main concern is loading the damn thing in and out of my truck. I don't have a trailer and I'm not buying one. I can lift 138 lbs, but that thing is a lot of bulk to get a grasp on.

Get some sort of ramp....aluminum. Over time you will end up grinding away at the cartilage in your back joints. Trust me I should know.

I still lift my 75# single stage blowers this way but my bio mechanics are near perfect. Get a hitch rack maybe.

I absolutely cringe when I see peers constantly lift 21 mowers this way. In fact the Ariens is more awkward than lifting a Toro 21 SR4

for normal growth -it does fine mulching but in really thick grass -it leaves droppings. the droppings were worse using the gator blade. for mulching leaves-its fantastic-a;most as good as a snapper with gator

A little factoid I learned is reducing rpm on pass #1 reduces clumps and spitting with any mower.

The fixed throttle mower like the Ariens have a disadvantage here.

My yBravo25 I can down throttle and it works pretty well.

I've been considering swapping out the 2 postion throtle carb [mid and full] on my aerator with the same basic engine on my Toro TimeMaster. Then again my primary BOP mowers leave a much nicer flatter cut than any other 21",25, 30" I own or have used thus far....

There are a number of happy HRX owners here. Rear door can be propped open some.for.pseudo rear discharge. I'm thinking it would be lighter for lifting.

If I absolutely HAD to buy a 21" I'd go ybravo 21 or the Honda HRX.
