What types of base do you Illinois guys use for your retaining walls and such? I have searched the threads, but nothing on Illinois and specifically central Illinois. Soil here is from 6' of the best black dirt in the world to modeling clay. lol. Thank you in advance.

Generically known as road pack around here. Believe the quarry classifies it as CA-6 if that helps any. Basically crushed white rock of varying size not exceeding 3/4" mixed with limestone dust.

CA-6 is what I use as well, although One time I used the "fine stuff" in ca-6 at a customers request....I know I know, I didn't sacrifice quality though,(3 blocks high, about 12 feet long) That was 4 years ago and it still looks good.

Patriot.... I think you may be right.... or just bias. lol. Thanks.

I am only about 40 miles from Scott AFB. Played golf on the course there a couple of times. Nice base.

Ca-6 is what we use, were in bloomington, if you ever need any hydro-seeding we sub contract to other landscapers, right now were used by 6 other companies.
