I would like to know which is the best deck design/mower brand for cutting St. Augustine grass. I have read on this forum how some brands are better than others at cutting certain types of grass but they are usually northern species of grasses and not St. Augustine.

My Scag cuts St. Augustine like a dream. A tremendous option.

It's hard to beat a Velocity Plus in St. Augustine.

How do you confuse SA and centipede? Scag, DC, Wright, Encore all do a great job with the right blades.

With St. Augustine being a wide bladed stiff southern type grass, I don't think that you'd have any trouble cutting it good and clean in one pass with just about any ztr brand as long as you keep fairly sharp blades.

It has been my experience that it cuts easily and discharges well. I use a Lastec most of the time when cutting it.
