Looking to treat a gravel driveway that's approximately 3/4 of a mile long. As it is right now, there's a menagerie of weeds and grasses that are encroaching on the gravel. I've read that Sahara and Pramitol will accomplish what I'm looking for, but the threat of it leeching into the surrounding grass is somewhat troubling. I can't afford to have the nice grass in the ditches killed.

Any thoughts on a product that will provide long term prevention of undesired growth without damaging the surrounding foliage?

Sahara is safer than most ( less leaching). Stay away from desireable tree root zones.

Will it leave the grass alone, or will that be adversely affected?

If I need to create bare ground upstream of lawns and ornamentals, I do it with Glyphosate, Barricade or Surflan and Gallery. That way, I do not owe everyone new lawns and plants should a soil sterilant move with water or into the rootzone of trees and shrubs. Even Sahara is risky near trees. Imazapyr will move and kill trees. Pramitol and Hyvar/Krovar are the worst for this situation.

If this is cool season grass in the ditches, stick with Barricade in the three way mix. Surflan will wipe out KBG, rye and fescue.

sahara will leach, especially if you have a ditch on both sides.

probably best to apply a pre and post mix.

lesco has prodeuce that may work for your app. I don't remember the active ingredient off hand, but you can look up the labels on the website.

ronstar is a pre that you could mix with the post glyphosate.

a sterilant will kill everything in its path, for an extended period of time. Sahara was mostly created for apps under new construction of parking lots and roads.

Something as permeable as stone, and not bordering on a large hardsurface, and close to a potential water source is going to lead to poor results and damage to the surrounding environment.

I forgot about Ronstar Flo. That is another good option for stopping reemegence of weeds without the danger of killing lawns and ornamentals. It is especially active on broadleaves.
