got to break down and buy a new mower. I’m in western ky. What r the best striping mowers out there without a striping kit

About to post the same thing...properly setup deck with high BTS and high lift blades will stripe nice especially with grasses that have long blades that bend and lay easily. I can stripe the hell out of some Zoysia and Bahia but Bermuda while it stripes it does it to a lesser degree without a stripe kit IMHO

What year and model Ferris do you have? Factory blades? Deck size?
My 72" 3200 doesn't seem to stripe as well as I think it should. I've set the blades to at least 1/4" pitch too. I've got the stripe flap on also.
FW35, any blades stripe, but best results for cut and stripe I use G5's and a shredding blade in doubles. Have a stripe flap as well.

Mowers help. I run Ferris, Wright, Toro and eXmark.

Even if all units set up w/same style blades the eXmark always lays down a visible stripe and the others don’t. eXmark sprinkles some kind of Stripe Magic on their decks.

And I don’t even want it. High End Customers here like uniform looking turf.

Stripes are overrated, customers prefer clean even level cut to any stripe.

Bigger Lawns we do are Old Money. They don't understand or want all the funny lines on their props. Want it to look like a Uniform Flat Green Carpet.

No idea why the eXmarks lay down a better stripe; even w/fully baffled mulch kits and Wavy blades cut under 2.5", the eXmarks put down a deeper stripe than any my other mowers.

that's your opinion. as i stated, my customers absolutely enjoy seeing the stripes.

and my lawnboy never striped worth a damn, lol
I have been hired far more times than not because the person saw me mowing another property and stopped and asked me to come check theirs out and give them a price because they liked my stripes and wanted them on their own place.
Lawnboys that can't lay decent stripes with their particular brand of mower or that cut too low to leave stripes always want to knock on those that can. Those few guys that always say this need to travel the country and inform the clients of the vast majority of the guys here that they really don't want those stripes on their yards then see what type of look or response they get.

Used to be guy from Chicago on here named Eric Elm. Loved the stripes. Was early 2000’s. Inspired me to buy rollers for one the Tracers to deepen the results.

Did the proper patterns. And layed down good looking stripes. On heavily landscaped lawns really cut into times and only comment was a complaint.

Must be regional. Because they want flat green uniform carpets here.

Ya regional thing , big props with boat anchor mowers leaving 12" tire marks that must be masked. Here small pros customers want perfect clean grass without the tire marks from heaven riders. If ya gotta use that 1300 pound tank......
Stripe away.

That was exactly complaint I got trying out the striping roller on our bigger lawns. Didn’t want their turf to look like a Sports Field.

Have seen tire tracks go brown well before rest of turf and stay brown longer after drought. That was guys running one pattern.

Don’t touch non irrigated anymore. Too many hassles.

Dixie Chopper.

This was one of Eric Elms signature pics. Got stolen a few times by guys claiming it as their own work on websites.

Always wondered how it looked in drought. Believe he claimed nothing irrigated.

That does look great. If he stayed off them in a drought, there wouldn't be aby issues at all. I have done the same thing/pattern on several lawns that were lush in the spring and by mid summer when things dried up, they were still healthy and fine. they went dormant like any lawn that doesn't get water, but in Sept when the rains came back, they greened up and I kept on doing it to them without a single issue, brown tire mark or whatever.

Above cut w/ DC XWD2600 with a striping kit and he ran 2 Notched blades per spindle,

Tried same w/eXmark stripe kit and the 2 notched medium lifts per spindle and Greatly Increased Contrast of stripes. However none the customers seemed interested. Almost no feedback.

Here's a couple from my old exmark TTHP with a exmark roller. NEVER had a comment or customer or even knew what I was talking about if I mentioned it. My Walker GHS stripes better than probably any mower made, customers do not care.

Not Mine but These the type of brown tire tracks occasionally see on non irrigated running same patterns weekly when things start to dry up. They remain after drought ends and take much longer to green up.

Very difficult to change patterns on strips like this and usually these sections are not irrigated even if rest of Lawn is irrigated.

To remedy I encourage mowers to move beside primary track every couple weeks.

Those brown marks are not from driving in the same tracks week after week. Something else caused them. Maybe dogs peeing there but to say they are caused by running the same pattern is ridiculous. They would be much more uniform and even.

A healthy lush lawn and an miwer with a striping kit will make good stripes. Those big league lawn stripers though are hands down better than any other striper kit I’ve ever seen.

LOL ,"Maybe dogs peeing there" Not.... those are caused by the mower running on a drought stressed lawn . Pattern does not matter, putting the mower on the stressed lawn does. Seen it probably 15 times over the years.
Pattern doesn't matter? If the weight of the mower breaks the blade of grass and caused the brown spots, why are they not breaking all the blades of grass in the tire tracks?
