Could someone give an idea what is causing this. I just bought a demo model 60" 27hp Kohler and today is the first full day of using it and it got black dust from somewhere on everything but it is heavier around the rear of the mower. It is also dieseling a little when I turn it off. With my HP I never had any kind of problem with it like this.

Didnt know if it was maybee the clutch breaking in or if it is the belts or what. It has 274 hours on it if it helps.

If anyone could point me in the right diection it would be great.

    THanks, James

Dieseling is often caused from shutting the engine off at too low of rpm. Kohler and Kawi now recommend shutting the engine off at 1/2 throttle.

The black dust could be from many things. Belts will often leave a black dust when during the break in period as can the exhaust in addition to many items in the environment your operating in. I can't think of anything that could be causing it that would be of concern.
