    Blade sharpening price questions:

    1. If you paid to have your blades sharpened, what is the going rate?

    2. Do any of you sharpen blades for others, if so what do you charge?

    3. What do shops charge where you purchased your mower?

    4. Do many here use the Magna-Matic 9000 and the Balancer 1000?

    5. Are many LCO's willing to pay someone else to sharpen there blades, or do
you think it's more feasible to sharpen your own by whatever means you

I got them sharpened once and they charge 5 bucks a blade. Then they taked on 10 bucks for labor. If I'm not mistaken, isn't sharpening the blade the labor.

Yea I know 2 bucks is real cheap, until they dug 1/4 inch into the blade with a 40 grit disc...began sharpening my own after that.

    1- 5$
    2- No
    3- 5$
    4- Yes
5- Yes and here's why. For me, the cost of a decent sharpener and balancer is as such that it just makes more sense to pay to have them done. At some point maybe I'll do it myself, but not now.

Dealer charges $3 per blade, and does a good job. I'm planning on eventually purchasing some type of sharpener myself, but this has been an easy, and not too expensive way, to go up to this point.

I sharpen my own. I recently purchased a Magna Matic 1000 balancer. It's worth the money to have vibration free deck.
