I have a 23hp Kohler on my 60 inch Lazer Z. Does anyone know what the blade tip speed is on this mower? It seems like the quality of the cut could be better.

Also, how could I increase my blade tip speed?

I think on these units it is 18,500 fps.

Putting a smaller pulley on the spindle will cause a higher blade tip speed.

NOT RECCOMENDED. DANGEROUS. More RPMs = more wear & tear, more vibration, cracked decks, and missing fingers and toes.

Using sharp blades is the key. Not sure what angle is best, but I've gotten different opinions. IMO the smaller the angle of the cutting edge is best, but I'm not certain. Prob is, the smaller the angle of the cutting edge means blades will dull more quickly.

I think the regulated blade tip speed is 19,200 fps The faster you spin them the more HP you need.
