    Hi everyone,

I think I just blew something on the reel on my skid sprayer. I was hooking the thing up to my truck battery and I needed to add some cable to make it long enough to reach but both of the cables on there previously were red and I think I got them mixed up and ended up switching them. To make a long story short, I put the cables on and about a minute later I heard a huge BOOM! and the reel doesn't want to work anymore. The cables were very hot also. I know I shoudl have had a fuse on it and I did but it had broken off earlier in the day and I didn't want to go get another one that day. My question is: what do you think broke? Is it the solenoid or the motor itself or what? Thanks for any responses.

btw it is pretty lame reeling that thing in manually all day long :)

You could have blown the solenoid or the armature in the motor. You could use a set of jumper cables and go right to the motor and see if it still works. If so you got lucky and just need to replace the solenoid.
