Might consider a shop vac. It will actually work. Problem is, you'd need ac power. Hey, you asked.

I have the Echo blower/vac as well but I haven't used it as a vac yet so I wasn't sure it would suck the clippings out of the edge.

I also notice that instead of holding the blower tube steady as you blow, that if you move it side to side somewhat rapidly it seems to do a better job.

I keep telling my wife that but she still doesn't get it.
