I just bought Bobcat Ransomes model #XM3609 WB and it has one ground speed...fast. I have been reading some earlier posts and figure its the variable speed pulley that's stuck/rusted/old.

My question is what is the best way to figure out if this is the problem and get it unstuck? WD40? Bang on it a bit?

Also, what does it look like?

Take the pulley off. Disassemble it. Clean it up. Lubricate the sliding parts. Reassemble and put it back on.

Although it may be rusted beyond being fixed...or I have even seen one welded into 1 speed so in those cases its new pulley time.

Is this an fairly simple task of getting off and back on?

Is this something a simple guy like me will screw up? I think its one bolt to get off and back on, right?

Little help please, my grass is growing and this thing is stuck in super fast mode...

gonna try to spray it down 3 or 4 times with WD40 and give it a couple love taps with the hammer to see if it frees up.

    wish me luck
