Do you like azaleas that are trimmed into a shape like a cube-like shape?
As you can tell by the picture these azaleas aren't even shaped evenly, and I think they look horrible like this. I think azaleas should have the natural look. Do you see alot of azaleas trimmed like this? :dizzy:
And no, we didn't do the trimming.

The Japanese actually grow azaleas for their ablity to be shaped and trimmed as bonsias. Their bloom is secondary to thier growth habit. And yes, I agree- they look horrible.

I prefer the natural look also, I have 1 customer that likes all the shrubs to have the box look and In hate it but he pays the bill so......... I usually let the azaleas do there own thing and just try to trim enough off of them to keep them neat

I prune azaleas to their natural state too. I dont treat them like hedges

The blooms on the natural azaleas are so much nicer, too.

Depends on what kind of azalea it is.uprights looks good as a backdrop, trimmed as a hedge, while mounding look better rounded over,in front of the uprights.
Somebody took way too much off the sides on that azalea.Looks like a fashion pink azalea, which would be an upright. In the location it's in,natural would have been better.
