I purchased a brand new super surfer a month ago. Used one time on a yard. We had a super surfer catch on fire and this was what we bought as a replacement. We bought another mower instead. paid Almost $6000 with tax a month ago willing to sell for $5200.

Why did you buy another machine after you got the Super Surfer ?? What new machine did you buy ??

Insurance made us get this mower since to repair the old one was 75% of a new ones price. And we had to prove to insurance that we bought the mower. I have decided to repair the burned one and bought a used older super surfer as a back up. The one that was burned is like new. I do not need two new mowers. I will use the money to pay the repair bill and put it toward the used super surfer (got a good deal).

What size deck does it have? Looks like 52". What motor and make? How many hours on the meter?

Bump for a super nice mower. This will be just like the current Gravely machines, just a different color. It will be real easy to get parts for, even though the Great Dane line is going away. So, no worries there.
good luck with your sale. Hold onto it until spring if you have to. It should sell quick then.

let me break up the confusion

This brand new mower was our replacement to the one that burned. We fixed the one that burned for $3500. A buddy of mine sold me a used Super Surfer for $2500. Total: $6000. I am selling this super surfer so that I only have to pay $1000. That way I go from having one mower to having 2 mowers.

These are great mowers. I have owned 2. They leave a nice cut and are super fast. Good luck with the sale. Why did the other mower catch on fire? You can pm me if you want.

This is my second super surfer to catch fire. It always happens around leaf season. The first one happened about 7 years ago. When you are sucking up leaves, it seems that the leaves get lodged around the muffer pipe. The leaf catches fire and the gas line is right there. That is the only logic. He was in the middle of a yard when it happened no major leaf piles or anything. Left a 20' by 20' burn mark in the yard. These mowers are just awesome machines. Keep the mower blown off at all times. I have no regrets on ever purchasing a super surfer I have 3 and love them. Reason for selling new one: I was an accounting major in school. Money is always on my mind and alternative costs.

I know this is an old thread and that it was geared toward selling your machine, however I'm trying to get some info on larger machines. I'm hoping to upgrade sometime soon and I want to be prepared. I've really been leaning toward the standers ( Wright, John Deere, Great Dane) because the properties in my area have lots of hills and a ton of obstacles. I figure a stander would give me way more productivity than a rider, plus its smaller in size and will take up less space. I would like anyone's opinions on these machines...Durability, reliability, performance, quality of cut, ergonomics etc... Thanks for your help :)
