I am fixing my brother's generator. Would not start. Has fire. Took carb apart noticed that plastic float on plastic insert was 1/2 full of gas( cannot find hole in it though ). I bought a new bowl gasket and float. It now runs but flooded unless I pinch back the tank pet **** valve and slightly feed it while RPM's come up and motor runs fine. The needles rubber tip looks fine and if I turn carb upside down and blow into inlet it stops the air flow and lets is pass as I slowly turn it right side up. There is no adjustment on the plastic float but it seems the bowl level is too deep. It does not flood and spill out of the carb so the needle is holding but the level is off. Cheap carb but expensive parts. any help appreciated

Thank

OK so FYI if anyone else has this issue the needle as Walker56 alluded to is indeed spring loaded. I exercised it a bit but am unsure what to compare it to as I have never seen a spring loaded one. When I put it back together It now runs but is a bit rich but I can compensate by throttling the petcock and it runs fine. I suppose a new needle will fix it but they are 15.00 so my brother will decide if he can live like this or fix it right.
Thanks Walker56 for the tip.
