I have a New Bob Cat 218 ES Zero Turn Mower. This mower has 21 hours on it and threw a rod. Blew a hole right through the side of the engine. The engine is a Briggs 18 Hp Intek. Has anyone ever had any similar problems with this engine?

    The Briggs Intek engines suck!

The only decent commercial engine that Briggs makes is the Vanguard twin.

I can't beleive that BobCat put that Intek turd on their mower! Is it a homeowner version?

This is the first time I've heard of anything like this. Like was said, probably had a problem from the start. Hey, anything can and does happen. I had a dodge 1500 and the factory sent 3 crankshafts with burrs on the journals before I got a good one. That's what you call bad, not a one off occurance.

I'm not sure.. so don't quote me on this, but, how many Kawasaki and Honda engines were there back in like 1960s or 1950s?

Just asking, because I don't know how long Honda and Kawasaki have been making small 4 cycle engines.
