About 5 years ago one of the dealers I use put a brand new Shindaiwa PB 230 out on the floor.Asked what they wanted and was told $580.00,no thanks.

To finish the above post(don't know what happened) I would always look for it when I would stop in.Sometimes it was out other times not.I stopped in about 3 years later and it was out.Asked the salesman what they wanted $360.00 clearance.Said i'll take it with a multi-tool trimmer attachment.$410.00 out the door.I put the trimmer head on the powerbroom shaft and the powerbroom on the multi-tool shaft (I have a M2510). I then had new T230 that has not been available for years and a powerbroom attachment for my M2510.Always keep an eye out for 230 power heads in any form, they were the best for maintaining a trim.

The thing about the old Shindaiwa equipment is that the motor never wears out. As long as you are able to buy replacement carbs, coils, clutches, clutch drums, and drive components, then you are set. Mine see hard, hard abuse. I had one 16 year old 230 have a bad bearing, and only swapped motors because it was noisy, not because it would not function. I only have 3 brand new 230s in the box, but I probably won't break them out because I keep my used ones fixed up because parts are in good supply. I see in some other countries they still sell the old Shindaiwa. I want to take a vacation and bring a bunch back with me.

i have been doing the same-fixing the old and never bringing out the new. i still have and use my first shind. edger i got back in 1991. it was well used then -a le250. had to finally replace the carb last year. i have been running hard a shin t231 for years. shows no sighn of giving up. i have converted several lco,s who used to swear by echo to shind. now they are going around buying up what used stuff they find. simply the best equiptment there ever was!

I still use a shindaiwa t270. One that has not been mentioned is a echo SRM 2502. I have one that is probably 20 years old that still runs great.
