What is needed to start a DBA offering lawn maintenance, sprinkler repair, aeration, and hedge trimming?

You'll have to visit your town/city hall or county seat. There will be some kind of paperwork for you to fill out. The DBA only allows you to call yourself by that name...IE for the sake of accepting checks and payments, etc. It isn't a business entity like an LLC. Licensing will depend on your state and city as well.

Here in PA, I believe it's just a form and you send it in with your name. I would get an LLC if I were you.

That's sole proprietor so at least in my state just register in municipality you are in so they can get their greedy hands on a portion of your income. I pay for the city and then again the same for the county.

I would consider an LLC if I was to do this long term, but as it is, I am not sure if I will keep this career after high school and college.
