    Hi!(virtual handshake),

I was wondering if some of you might share some of the dollar metrics of your business you measure regulary (e.g. cost per loaded mile, monthly dollar figure expressed as a holdback for maintenance, etc.)?

    Sounds like a good question.
The problem is most LCO do not know their business as well as they know lawns.

How do I know this...simple ask question about business internals and hardly anyone answers but ask about how to do lawn work or about equipment and you get a ton of responses.

We need to get educated so that the whole industry as a whole is profitable.

    For general health receivables/payables ratio.

    Sales per hour.

Direct costs as a percentage of sales.

Job costing labor on installation work.

Square footage of turf fertilized and daily sales dollars.

Hours paid in payroll for irrigation service vs hours billed for service.

    No disrespect intended but,

I don't think that the original poster wanted equations.

He wants actual numbers so that he can run a comparison.

I know alot of people here can quote equations....but few actually use them on their business.
The reason....I believe is that it is time consuming and some might not know how.

I am just starting my business in a few weeks and I would post some of those numbers if I had them. Once I get started I will post some for comparison purposes.

Maybe I can work out a spreadsheet that helps the common man see where his business is going and what it really is producing.
Hmmm...maybe a website that does that for free so that the SCRUBS can see that they are PAYING to WORK. Something to think about.

    Just my thoughts.

    No disrespect intended?!?!?

I think your way out of line fella.

Once your "start" your company let us "common" men know how our lord is doing, k??

Live and learn. You have a lot of that to do.

Already talking about scrubs, and hasn't even put one dollar from his business in his pocket!

    What a joke!

    Sorry to tell you,

But SCRUBS exist. Whether I have put any money into or out of my pocket has no relevance. They exist and they are a threat to my upcoming venture and to yours too.
Business is Business and if you know the principles then they can be applied across the board.

....and who are you to make all these decisions? Furthermore, even when you do, who are you to govern the rest of us?

I think your head is a little to big for your britches.

    What decisions? What governing?
    What are you talking about.
Do you work for me? I work for you?
How are we related that what I do affects you so much?

Why does my opinion upset you so much?

You are not even the original poster. The original poster needs some numbers so that he can crunch. When I have them and if he still needs them I will provide him with those numbers for his analysis. The rest is my opinion.....that is all it is.

This forum is great and the advice is free. You get what you pay for.

If you don't like what I write then don't read it.

    Simple as that.

    Have a good day...MAZTER
