Here's the deal. I'm solo. My main 5 year old 52" hydro walk behind is down and out for repairs until the middle of next week. I can't see spending $400 for a 4 day rental.
    1. I can buy a 48" Lesco belt for $2,200, and keep as back-up.
    2. Or buy a 48" Scag belt for $3000, and keep as back-up.
    3. Buy a 48" Exmark Metro for $3000 with bagger and keepas back-up.
    4. Buy a 52" Exmark Turf Tracer for $5,000 and keep my hydro as my back-up.

What would you do? Thanks for your opinions.

i would buy the exmark 52" for $5k..... the way steel prices are going up that 5k could be more like 6k this time next year ... i have a 52" TT and love it so im kinda biased to it........

I agree. If your other mower is 5 years old the down time is only going to get more frequent. Go ahead and buy the better mower and put it in service and keep the old one for backup.
  5. In this kind of situation, I'd buy something a different from what I had as I could. Then you wouldn't have two of exactly the same thing. To give you more versitility.

I would go with a new 52'' hydro. You already have a hydro and I dont think you would be happy with a belt drive. And giving the age of the mower you will probably have more breakdowns in the future. Also since you all ready cut with a 52'' your patterns will stay the same where the other mowers have 48'' decks.

Since your main machine is so old, I would buy the new one keeping in mind it might soon become your new main machine. I would buy the 52" hydro in your situation.

I think I would go for the 48", and just keep for a back-up. Depends how worn your 52 " is. Can buy a lot of repairs, for the diff. payup

If your 52" gets you everywhere you need to be, the 60" Turf Tracer has a beautiful cut and will make you even more efficient.
