How many would chance buying a used Scag Tiger Cub with 1325 hrs, 52 inch cut and 23hp Kawa for $2500(might even be able to get it for less) or spend $5000 for a new Freedom Z.

I'm not a mechanic, but I've kept my last mower going the last 3 years replacing steering, carbs, belts etc.

Go the extra and get new. With that many hours the pumps and wheel motors could go at anytime...they are $500-$600 a piece per side. If both pumps and both wheel motors go...that's $2000 repair...now you're sitting around the price of just buying new and having a warranty. Pullies are getting worn, pto is getting worn, and you have no clue how the tractor was ran or how the maintenance was on that used machine.

I'd almost agree. However, look at your cash flow. If you can buy new for cash or 0% then buy new. If you have to finance at other than 0%, seriously look at the used unit or holdong off a bit.

Do business with cash cash and cash.

It would be a cash transaction. Thats why I'm looking at the Freedom Z and not the Turf Tiger.

I think I'm gonna hold off on this used mower and just keep my eye out for a mower with less hours <500 or buy a new one when the time is right.

I don't want to pay $2500 and then have $1000 in repairs next year and still only have a $2500 mower with no warranty.

I did a search on past threads and found some good info there too.

I think this is probably the right move here. I really think you can probably find a better deal than this. My brother just recently bought an 04 tiger cub with 250 hours on it for about the same price. It just takes some time, and often a seller that doesnt know what he/she has, to get the right deal. I would broaden my search to exmarks, Hustlers and Toro's as well. This will really open your options. Best of Luck

I just signed for a new 2010 toro z-500 60" I chose new over used as the warranty and dealer support it great especially when you buy new your dealer is more apt to help you out in a bind and loan you a replacement while yours is being worked on...

My opinion go with new !!!!
