What is the regular moisture content of the soil like? It looks to be either too wet or too dry (both will yield the same results). Hit it with a mycorrhizae soil drench to stimulate fibrous root growth and stave off stress. If the ends of the branches are still green, it's just a shock/ safety mechanism to shed needles that it doesn't have to feed to protect itself. It's gonna look unsightly for awhile, but give it a chance.
