Can u really make money here?

LawnSite Bronze Member
I have a small landscaping comp here in Mass (fulltime college too). I read all these posts about how people started and where they are now, is this true for most of you guys? Can one really make good money doing this $50k + per year? I think I do real well for 30 weekly clients, but just wanted to know what some more of you think.

A lot will depend on how long your mowing season is and what kind of install work can be done in the winter. The rest will depend on other things like the local market, the type of equipment you use, how far apart your jobs are, and things I can't remember, but others will add later. This is too general a question to give specific answers, but if you can do 50 lawns a week, at $35 each for 35 weeks a season, you get $61,250. Everyone's expenses will vary, but mine average 25-30% of gross, not including income taxes. It also depends what you call "good money."
