Well I am by no means a pro, but I just had hydro seed put in. The landscaper told me to water 3 times a day for fifteen minutes a shot. Also suggested not letting the seed dry out. Keep it moist, but no puddles. Than as it starts growing to reduce it some, so the roots will grow deeper.

new seed needs to remain wet. if possible just a little shot once an hour. As the grass begins to germinate you are gonna want to space out your watering schedule but water heavier. In the end, deep and infrequent is the best for root development.gl
