Carb cleaner additive for mowers!

    Does anybody add and kind of additives to their mowers. I have an old toro that has a problem running at a straight rpm. It will run good for a few minutes and then the rpm will start jumping up and down, then even out for a few minutes, and so on, was just curious if carb cleaner run thru the tank would clear this out or not.

    What size/type engine? Your problem does sound carb related but just running cleaner in it could make things worse. I would open the carb up and clean it that way.

    Not too familiar with it, but think its a 5 hp briggs motor.

    Tear down the carb and clean it out. It's a 20 minute job (and that includes drinking a beer). :drinkup:

    Sounds like a gov. problem to me. Start it up, and find the gov. lever on the carb. Take your finger and move it and see if the motor runs better. You may have a bad spring on it.
