First let me thank those of you that have replied to my previous posts about a cemetery which I will start maintaining next year. Currently this cemetery is giving its fertilization and weed control business to Truegreen/Chemlawn. The board of directors wants to dump them for poor service and results. They have asked me to bid the 25 acre job if I want it. This bid will be above and beyond the salary they will pay me because of this, I plan on working up an estimate for three granular applications with IPM weed control. Have any of you have bid this type of job in the past? If so, did you run into any unknown things that drove up the cost of your estimate. For example the headstones will need to be blown off to prevent salt staining from the granular fertilizer. I also considered how often I will have to refill my hopper and liquid herbicide tanks (Z-Spray). Advise?

    We (mow) several cemeteries.
There are a lot of live flowers, plants, shrubs to work around.
You don't want to be responsible for replacing people's plant's.
Make sure and have your butt covered in contract.

    You need a test.
Apply your two favorite fertilizers to specimen headstones to see if any staining results. Be sure to have the cooperation and witness from the cemetery operators. Also, check the various herbicides and pre-emergents for the chance that they might cause stains. Also growth regulators.
Try to protect yourself from claims and complaints.
    Get photos. And show us.

    Or...keep it secret...as a trade secret.

Riggle, it has been a while since I have been on here. You have always been one of my go to guys when it came to business advise. BTW, yes, I have considered all three. I am glad to see that there are generic pGR’s out there. Have you used any? Same results?
