For anyone who has experience, How effective is Certainty against Poa?

My experience with it has not been impressive. Seems to do ok on the smaller young clumps at high rate but is super slow. If it’s big and mature, this late in the season….. I’d wait on the heat to take it out and keep it for sedges. Not really an option imo. Not a great option I know but that’s all I got. What kind of grass is it in?

Really wasn’t thinking of using it now but in the 1st round late winter application. Could be any warm season turf but let’s say St Augustine or Centipede. Poa would be immature or not even visible, whatever broke through the fall round. Also concerned how it might affect greenup.

Certainty can be pretty effective against Poa annua, especially in warm-season grasses like bermudagrass or zoysia. It's not a total kill in every case, but with the right timing and multiple applications, it can do a solid job thinning it out. Just make sure temps are within the safe range and follow up with a pre-emergent to prevent new growth. Also, results can vary a bit depending on your region and turf type.

I would have to go with @Goat nc on this. I’ve used both certainty and negate to spot spray poa, thought it took a few weeks to kill it. Tested at my own home around our aerobic system.

I’ve had great luck with a Specticle Flo/simazine combo for a fall preemergent, with a Feb round of Prodiamine/simazine/changeup /msm turf.

I called Bayer/envu and got one of the research folks, they suggested 4oz/ acre of Flo to avoid any root pruning effects. The lawns were weed free with very minor breakthrough, more operator error than product efficacy. No poa present on any of the lawns, including my area around our aerobic area.

Have you used this combo on St Augustine or Centipede ?
