Need to get a chain saw for minor trimming and shrub removal. What size and brand would you all recommend? Would you suggest buying new or used. Thanks for your input.

Echo CS3400 or 3450- Sweet saws. I like the 3400 better for small jobs because of the handle placement.

Stihl or paulon would be good choices for small trre and shrub removal. Both are well built and dependable. If they are well taken care of they'll last for long time.
Size no bigger tham a 16" bar.

Boys take a look at the pouland gold pro saw at lowes
This is not the green saw . this is a truly
pro type saw. About a hundred less than Ive seen it
for before. I have 2 stihls also but this gold
    saw fits in any company.

The little Echo's run for years. The Poulan saws I've been around seem to be disposable.(green kind)

A Stihl 029 is a good all around saw! Around $300.

I couldnt agree more about the green saw
Right now Iknow where six are that wont run.
This was a discount saw . The pro series
is a different deal. By the way the echo
equipment Ive used was real quality also.

I've got a Stihl 019C. Its got a 14" bar and is quite small and lightweight although it still has plenty of power. I use it alot for shrub removal and trimming. It fits perfectly for this use. It was about $200.

Stihl! Skip the poulan pros, they suck, we used to use them all the time, since i switched to stihl i don't know why i dealt with all the shortcomings of the poulans.

Poulan makes a nice little 16" saw for about 100 bucks at Walmart, its perfect for small jobs. I have never had problems with mine, and have even done bigger stuff with it.
