I just bought a new chainsaw to use since this major ice storm we have and was wondering what saws everyone else uses? I bought a Stihl MS310 w/20" bar to along with my Husky 55 20" and stihl 18".

We got power back Thursday night around 10:00. The clean up will be going on for some time to come. Durham was the worst hit however and I think you guys were to. I was wondering what I was gonna do for money this winter, I guess I got my answer.

I know somebody who lives in Apex. I cant beleive the amount of trees down. I dont live down there, but i bought a stihl 019t. Its not a very big saw, but i dont use it that often, and it gets the job done when i use it. Stihl has a great reputation, and yours should hold up very well.

longviewlawncare... just curious about the new 20in saw... i noticed that you already had a 20in saw and an 18in as well. is the other 20in wore out or are conditions that bad that both saws are running? do you prefer the stihls over the husky? just curious thanks

yeah i have 3 saws running. I am also helping out a golf course that my buddy works at to get some cleanup done. I have my 3 plus there 2 running there. Problem is i can not find a chipper anywhere to rent so i am hualing everything in a dump trailer. As far as husky to stihl goes, i like them both. both saws have given me great performance. Which one i get dpends on what i am looking for, price and who has what in stock.

I am in Charlotte NC and people were going as far as Columbia SC to get generators- if they could get them there at all. I was lucky to have a 3Kw which could run my furnace blower, fridge and some lights/TV.

This is much worse than Hurricane Hugo in 1989. At least Hugo was in September and even then it was a narrow path, not destruction/mayhem from the mountains all the way east of Raleigh/Durham.

You guys in Greensboro and Apex seem to have it worse than us here in Charlotte. I was out for 3 days but very lucky to have the 3Kw in the shed!
