How do you politely respond to a customer who you cut their lawn for when she asks if she could pay you an extra $5 to cut the shrubs in her front yard? She one of those customers where you just cut the lawn, grab the money and go.

Say I'm sorry but I have a minimum price that I charge to do bushes and then give her the price you want and if she doesn't like it she will say no and try to do it herself then pay you what you asked the next time you show up

I tell them do not do shrubs just mow and trim . and you do not want me to hack them either I do not have what it takes to trim them , I am honest and up front about it . IF I trim them its with a chainsaw at the root .

Just tell her what your price per shrub is then get ready for resistance. Down here it's usually, "Oh, that's too much. I'm on a fixed income."

i hate shrub trimming. it doesn't pay very well and it's harder work than mowing.

Really? I finally bought some stihl trimmers a couple months ago and I figured out how long it takes to do em with the right tool now and charge $150/hr $75 min.

It is still hard work though!

What I struggle with is peoples willingness to pay my prices for shrubs, which I use a $700 tool but mowing prices are in the gutter when were using $5,000- $10,000 machines.
