I've read other posts on laser levels and my question is two-fold.

1st) for doing walls and patio's what kind/type/style is necessary?
2nd) I'm assuming its accuracy, but what is the difference between the $1000 model and the $80 model?

Please keep the idiot comments to a minimum, I've read enough of them in the other posts:hammerhead:

the $1K ones are self leveling, and far more accurate, and have a longer working distance.

if you are budget constrained get at least one of the $500.00 manual levleing lasers. they are not as good as the self levleling, BUT they are far better than the $80.00 ones.

Accuracy, quality of construction, longevity, self leveling (a must), waterproof, etc. This is one area you don't want to skimp on. Get a good one and you won't regret it.

I just got the LM800 package for around $1150.

Here's a link to the laser, although I didn't get it here -- I bought it locally for about $40 more.

    Specs look similar, but 800 is 1/16" @ 100' while the 600 is 1/8" @ 100'.

I also see the 600 is a self-leveling laser that has MANUAL grade. If you read any of the other recent laser threads, all the "experts" here would have you believe such an animal doesn't exist. :D

We have the 600 and we use it alot, so it is certainly HD.

also have the 600. very pleased. self leveling a must. when you have to take it down for any reason on the job, it takes one push of a button and a couple seconds to be set up and going again.
