What's your experience with these trucks?

I'm looking at one as an engine donor. Cooling system, wiring harness, etc all in one place.

I'd rather have a diesel also but the big blocks are pretty common and they will bolt right up to the transmission with no problems.

I have one in a C65 dump. You won't win any races but it is a tough engine and repairs are relatively inexpensive. I'm happy with the truck and the load it tows and carries. Gears are definitely your friend with these, the more the better.

The 366 is a great engine and can withstand all kinds of abuse and tough service. They are not a powerhouse and they like gasoline. We still have 60 school buses with the 366, at the district I drive for. They are all around 17 years old. Many have just rolled over the 200,000 mile mark this school season. They just keep going and going.

Curious, what type of military vehicle are you putting the donor engine in?

I am not a fan of the 366. However as far as GM engines they are not terrible.
