i think you are being too anal, it is a grass mowing machine man!! dont wash them too much or you WILL have issues with moving parts. other than very close pressure washing i would not put too much effort into it

We clean decks and sharpen blades each week... Once each month during the mowing season we spray our mowers with red Power , a product made by Production out of Calif. and pressure wash, makes everything come out like new again. It not only makes the equipment look good It also makes it easy to see any issues, leaks , cracks etc. IMO........pete

Napa carries a cleaner called Hawkeye Purple. It gets it off pretty easy, but it's pretty stout stuff. You don't wanna leave it on too long because it will dull the paint.
