Have a client claiming some welding slag is from my operation. One window 12 feet from the welding area shows damage and another is below a screen that isn’t damaged. Screen was never removed. WTF?

how do you deal w this one? I’m finishing up my work and moving on. Bad signs of things to come.

Is there someone u call to address this? Client doesn’t understand logic from what I can tell. Can’t grasp the concept that the windows are both damaged the same way and one is below a vinyl screen that shows no melted holes or damage what so ever.

No, you don't do anything to address it until you get sued. Then you call your insurance provider. You have the right idea, fulfill your obligations and move on.

This won't be the last time this happens. You aren't obligated to prove it wasn't you or figure out how it happened.

The only way it will be addressed is in a courtroom. If they start slandering your business around town you may want to consult with a lawyer but people like this are usually just fishing. They were probably aware of the damage long before and are just taking a shot at holding you responsible, they won't follow up when you deny it.

Sure hope your right. It’s really not worth a claim. It’s probably a $400 piece of work. Family members that runs a business have commented in kind and said finish up and bill. If they make a fuss adamantly deny being the cause or any reimbursements.

This was a red flag client from day 1.

    Phew! Just some Welding slag,
At least you didn’t spray his rabbit, dog area, lawn, garden and strawberries with unknown chemicals, causing him to get a chemical

Ask if they will allow you to bring a professional home inspector in to examine it and determine the validity of and level of your fault... they won’t do this type of work, but the customer doesn’t sound too bright regarding the screen, so it may get them off your back.

Slag normally leaves pretty distinctive marks and if it was done in prior years would maybe should signs like rust ? You sure there is no way possible that it was caused by you?
