To all the Landscape Contractors that run adds in the newspaper, super coupons, etc.

What percent of respondents to your advertising hire you to do work?

I run an ad that is mailed to three towns and if I get one 'good' job I am happy. What kind of response are you guys getting?

I just spent $1200 to mail 20,000 valpak ads.($600) for 2 months. My phone has been getting kinda busy. I also had low expectations, looking for the big white whale. Old money, who like to spend it.

I run a newspaper ad all year long which costs about $1500 a year and get anywhere between $10,000 and $20,000 worth of work off of it. All other work comes from word of mouth.

I will get approximately 75% of the jobs from the people who call me. I have also learned that it is beneficial to have your calls forwarded from your office phone to your cell phone if no one is in the office to take the call. A lot of people are very impatient. One guy called me a couple of weeks ago and said whoever shows up first gets the job. I got that job, $3500.00, but lost another one, a $300.00 edging job, because I couldn't get to the person's house that same day. You can't get them all.
