Does anyone filter the color of the light on palms? I wonder if there is a better look for palm trees.

It isnt too common in residential outdoor lighting. You see colors regularly on commercial / resort lighting and in city streetscapes.

I personally prefer the natural color tones that a properly volted Halogen lamp produces.

Great picture Joey. I see you are using well lights and not spotlights. What kind of mulch is around them? I was told to use spotlights because they would be above the mulch and the heat of the lamp would not ignite the mulch. Is there any concern of this happening? How can it be avoided using the well lights? Are your well lights thermally protected?

The well lights in the picture above were put into Sod. It is never a good idea to use any well light in mulch beds or areas where mulching will be taking place. Well lights require maintenance and cleaning and if your willing to do that they become an awesome light in your arsenal. So you have to pick and choose where you use your well lights.

We have many different styles of well lights from our standard injected molded F125 which comes with a grate to our top of the line Apollo Star which is a PBT plastic can with a solid brass grate that has a sealed in lens. None of our well lights come with any form of thermal protection so knowing the area you are intalling them into is important.

Here are a few links to our different style well lights. Hope this helps!

There are thermal breakers that can be installed in line on well lights that will protect the surrounding area from over-heating. Nightscaping used to make these available as an accessory and included them with a number of their direct burial fixtures.
