Regarding notifications - I don't think there was a "dot" on my avatar (up top) just now, but when I clicked my avatar, I saw the red dod with the number of notifications on the BELL.

I'll test it by letting someone "like" this post and come back in ten minutes to see what it shows.

If you turn it off long enough to click NEVER it should work, but it may still be in your cache.

It is working the same way for me, which was why I mentioned that there should be a red alert icon out on my icon instead of having to click on mine to know I actually have an alert. You aren't alone.

Was your green dot a very dull, almost miss-able green dot at the upper right corner? I have had a few of those, but they are so light/dull that I almost didn't see them. In fact, I didn't notice them until I went to click on my icon to look for the red alerts.

That's what I thought they were, and all of my notifications are set to "push" but I have never had any pop-up window here or in the past systems while they were enabled. Not sure why though.

Double-check your preferences and also make sure they aren't going into a spam folder.

Click on your avatar in the uppper right-hand corner of the site and select Account Settings.

From your Accont Setting page, click on Preferences in the left sidebar.

Now you can check to make sure you have the boxes checked for the emails you want to receive. Make sure to click Save at the bottom when you are done.
