looks like the poor guy mowing for 12 dollars a cut would have to pay something so I figure if he is lucky he will make 10 dollars per lawn. I guess ill tell the guy down the street to look into it seeing how he is only getting 8 dollars a lawn.

This is an arm of BidWilly. So is the National Homeowner's Association and their BS "Memo". The company pays the LCO $9.00 per cut while the company takes it's $3.00 cut. The homeowner has no idea whose showing up at their house until the vendor is signed and that's if there is enough homeowners interested (30%) or more. The vendor could be BillyBob or Bubba the new jailhouse release or a pervert etc. The scenario just gets worse from there. You can't talk to a real person but just get referred back to the website.

These guys recently showed up in my community here in central FL. They are getting A LOT of business. There's just no way I can compete with them at 12.00 a cut. A couple of my neighbors right across the street from me just went with them. They've probably got 10-20 homes here in my small community very quickly. Don't see how their subs can afford to cut a lawn for the 9.00 they get.

get the list of clients, a map out all the ones that are close together, and do what it takes to get them. if they are close enough together the hourly would be decent even if you undercut them

give em a free couple of mows,

charge 11.

cut them the **** out.

you can either take it, or fight it.

Gotta agree with unknownfl, the subs can't stay in business at that price. There's no chance I would take on these lawns for a low ball number. Like I said I've got two right across the street from my house, no travel at all, and if these folks want to take on the $12 guys, so be it. The National Homeowners Association is a real shady operation and I'm sure they'll be gone soon enough.

If my memory serves me correct these are small lots. I have seen these neighborhoods when i did a couple of landscape installs. The price is probably for a Mow and Go comes out to about $50.00 month year round. Get enough of them makes it worth your while you do not make money staring at the windsheild. I am not saying to compete with them.

The lots average 80X100. Most have fences and all have sidewalks so there's a lot of edging and weed wacking involved. Figure your basic 43 cuts a year, give or take a few, and you're looking at a bit over $40 a month gross. The way I see it the more of these you have the faster you'll loose money and be out of business.

43 cuts a year is a lot for this area. I usually base my price on 3 cuts per month year round which comes out to right at 36 cuts per year. The yards that are fenced in pay more than the basic that is how i would work it. Not trying to be a smart *** but how do you figure the more you have the more money you will lose. I agree if you do them to cheap you are just working to keep your schedule full and employees busy. There is a fine line between this being profitible and losing your ***. Like i said in my earlier post you do not make money looking at the windsheild. If you can limit drive time stay in close proximity and maximize your earning potential you can run a profitable route

I can't make ANY money at $12 per cut. If you can then you should get all you can at that price. Me, I'd just be loosing money faster, not to mention what would happen to my existing customer base if they found out.

You cut St Augustine 3 times per month in the Summer? Wow.

No i do not cut 3 times in the summer every week from mid to late April to about early Oct and then usually 2 times a month as needed. If i cut ST Aug every 10 days i would be out of business just from the cost of fuel alone. I prefer not to work on volume work i need to make an X amount of money every day or it is just not worth leaving the shop. But if that volume route is set up just right with the right crew. I do not see a problem making money.

The nHOA has established a contract with Vista Lakes communities of Orlando Florida for lawn care services. Lawn care for the Vista Lakes community is now $12 per cut which includes mowing, trimming, cutting of trees and shrubs, weed control, and more. More than 30% of Vista Lakes communities have gotten involved in this program.

(December 12, 2008)
The National HomeOwners Association of America, Inc.(nHOA) today signed a 10-year agreement to use the services provided by BidWilly, Inc. nHOA plans to use BidWilly to better serve neighborhood associations through the use of their bidding software and the utilization of the free marketing tools provided to all registered users. 10 year contract!!!watch out now, thats a long time to wait it out, if i was there would be doing it for $15 and enlisting as many smaller local companysto jump on board, and sell the heck outta the service, emphasizing quality and price........just a thought.
