Compression on a Kawasaki

    I have an Exmark with a 23 HP Kawasaki engine. I was checking everything on it today and decided to check the compression as well. I found that one side was 107 and the other was 141. Is this motor going to rebuilt soon or how long could it last this was?

    107 is too low. That engine is barely efficient right now; instead of 23hp I would guess you are getting 15hp. As to how long it could last, as long as you want but you will not have the power that you need to work. Not sure if you want to get into a rebuild or not, buying a new engine is a better choice for most.

    i prefer a leakdown test, it helps to see where you are losing compression. however, try squirting some oil in that low cylinder, and try it again. if the compression come up some, its likely getting past the rings and you'll be buying a new engine in the future. if it does not come up, its probably a valve, and you'll need a valve job, or possibly just a lash adjustment.
