Has anyone ever considered this or ever seen this done? I was watching Deconstructed tonight on Science channel. Was thinking if the impeller was the right gage. May be it would hold up? Remove auger and attach hose to opening. I have a friend here that buys returns from Sears and has a couple of large size snow blowers (like 30" or so) I could get dirt cheap.
This is just a little off season brain fart idea I had tonight ;) I may give this a good look. I'll keep all interested posted.

i saw it done on YouTube one, but just the original snow blower auger.

It actually worked pretty well, but the thrown was difficult to manage it seems like, and im not sure how much a client would appreciate you "snow blowing" their lawn lol

I think if you had a booster stage, after the impeller with lots of vacuum, it would work great. I'd try it with the auger in place first.

The biggest drawback I see is whole leaves rather than pieces!

First time you suck up a large stick or rock you'll do some damage.

Just go buy a Billy Goat.

If you ever get the chance to compare how a leaf loader is built and a snow thrower is built you will quickly realize that you should save your time and money so that you can purchase a loader.

I wondered if a snowblower would work also so last fall I gave it it try a 5ft 3ph snowblower on the back of one of our tractors. It did not work too well, it didn't shread the leaves at all. Maybe with a smaller snowblower it would work but it didn't with mine.

Ya, I've seen 20 horse leaf loaders that have bent impellers, and broken crank shafts just from a normal pile of leaves.
