Can anyone confirm the right rpms for a '98 Kawi 14hp FC420V? I was told 3450 from my shop but read 3600 everywhere else. How much rpm should it drop with the blades engaged? I have a 48" hydro.

Tiny tach reads 3480 no load and 3380 blades engaged. I remember seeing as high as 3510 no load but my throttle level is touchy the closer it gets to choke position.

For small engines 3600 rpm is the standard at no load. However we set most of our engine a bit lower, usually around 3500 +/-50.

    Crank it up!

The engine will not be hurt but if your blade speed is too high the mower won't cut.

PM me if you need assistance.
