I have a severe crabgrass problem in my yard. My grass is 100% Fescue. What can I use and when can I use it to get rid of this crabgrass? Live in NE Georgia.
In an established fescue lawn, you can kill it off now with a selective control like Ortho crabgrass-b-gone or some other similar product and put down a pre-emergent in the early spring to stop the seed from germinating. Its an annual, so it will die at first frost. Not sure when that is in GA.
I'll look into the products. Only bad thing is, if I kill the crabgrass, I'm afraid I'll just have dirt. I'm off all week and renting a bobcat and tiller to redo about 50% of my yard and resow with Fescue again.
Firescooby - Drive works VERY well, but costly @ $90 a bottle. Are you shure you wanna spray that when the crab is in dying out now??
If your not reseeding, I recommed going to the nearest Home Depot or Lesco and pick up a few bags of Pre-M or fert with Demension....Just preventative maintenance for next year..
All the rain we've gotten this spring/summer is the reason all the crabs are out....
