What Chemical will kill unwanted Daylillies?
Check this out :
Have kids dig 'em up and put them on a table in front of the house along with some tomatoes and lemonade.
Why not dig them up ?
Why do you want to kill them. Dig em up divide them and repopulate another boarder with them. If you dont want them pot em and sell them or give them to a client and charge for install. Everyone just wants to kill and waste, you paid good money for them, now you want to kill them Just mail me your cash and I will save you a step.
I think I can speak for rwnail here...probably.
He / she is probably talking about tiger lillies, or ditch lillies.
Tiger lillies are pretty when they're blooming, for the short time that they bloom, yes.
But unlike your landscape dayliliy, they're ruthless invaders, having much the same aggressiveness as cattails growing along the edge of a pond !!!
I wouldn't fault anyone for trying to...at least..."control" their spread into adjacent lawn areas.
I knew an old (1st generation American) German immigrant couple, who have both since died, who had a big plot of them planted in a huge circle in the far corner of their backyard; with a large aluminum ring encompassing the whole batch.
In the very center of the ring was a flagpole with an American flag.
The husband said the ring was buried in the ground at least a foot all the way around, which...he said "kept them from getting out".
alrightythen, its not daylillies, get your plant id correct, I retract my previous statement
I know of a person around here who has a massive garden of "friendly" non-invasive daylillies, who also has a recurring problem with Canadian thistle.
The past few years I've suggested that she use Lontrel "over-the-top", use split apps (two 100#/ acre app rates) of Snapshot herbicide....and of course use CLEAN mulch....but she still is getting thistle rhizomes popping up !!
Anybody else have any other ideas ?!?
