What have you guys come across in terms of perks from your dealers that really want to make you stay there, for instance getting your mower waxed free, free ice, loaner equipment, demos ect
You got that right. Our dealer takes great care of us and has since we first started using them. They bend over backwards to help us in any way they can. Every once in a while my dad will take them in a case of beer, you'd think we just gave them a million dollars. You are thinking about this in the wrong way. What do you as perks to keep your dealer happy? Like 6 pack for the repair team at end of day. Christmas bonus for everybody in the shop. Please waxing mowers:hammerhead:
There are no selfless acts. What that means is nothing is given and not expecting something in return. If you gave them a case of beer and they didn't kiss your butt then you would probably stop giving them the cases of beer. You're buying these perks, they're not giving them to you.The guy at the parts desk went on about how everybody always talks about getting them a beer or this and that and we were one of the few who have ever done it. It goes a long way.
We were getting great service before my Dad gave them the beer. It was just our way of saying we appreciate how we are treated. I have been in every dealer in our county and in most we get treated like second class citizens. There are no selfless acts. What that means is nothing is given and not expecting something in return. You know what they say about assumptions. The mechanics took the beer home and drank it home. I know the owner of the shops don't allow drinking at the shop. I asked the owner about the beer and he said it was fine to bring in, he said to just not bring it through the front, to bring it in the back and put in their fridge in the garage area. The mechanics and parts clerk could divide it up how they wanted. As for the beer, what a stupid idea. What every community needs, more drivers on the road who have had a few beers before leaving work. NOT.
Still a stupid idea. Yes, you know what they say about assumptions, ... that that includes an assumption about the personal habits of the employees, and their attitudes about drinking alcohol. You know what they say about assumptions. ....
I suppose this is true. So your nice gesture of taking beer to everyone is great for those who drink, but what about the one or two guys that don't? maybe they are recovering alcoholics or maybe they just don't drink for other reasons... That makes the "gift" only good for some. However this would be true with ANYTHING you do. Take in a plate of cookies, not everyone is going to like that kind, maybe someone is a diabetic? Take in gift certificates to a restruant, maybe not everyone likes the food there? You could go on all day trying to think of something that will please everyone... I'm sure the OP asked prior to taking it in "hey what kind of beer do you guys drink" or somethign to that effect. If it's free I'm not pickey about brand either, hahaStill a stupid idea. Now THAT would be a dealer I would like to have in my area.As a dealer the "perks" we offer to commercial guys rather they have bought 1 or 10 mowers from us they allways come first. Imediate service when they break, allways have a loaner avaliable. 10% discount on parts for commercial customers,
Most important thing I focus on is that every commercial guy gets treated like he is our only customer. And we bend over backwards to keep them going.
We also do snow plow business and offer 24/hr service to them and 24/hr parts as well.
Calling for 12-18" of snow tonight  GOING TO BE A LONG NIGHT!!!!
