Well to put it simply, has anyone ever ran a different manufactures blades underneath a seven iron II deck? Well, I always loved the blades underneath my Turbo Force deck when I had my Toro, so here's my new experiment.... I bought a set of these blades http://www.expressmowerparts.com/Bobcat_21_High_Lift_HD_Blade_p/26-072bo.htm and I just purchased a 29/32 drill bit off of ebay to make the center hole bigger on the Bob Cat blades fit my JD!! Good idea or bad? Doesn't matter I'm trying it anyways.. lol :drinkup: Deere does not make a blade even close to still style, so I figured why not try, opinions...?

take your blade size from the deer blade and try buying your blade outside of deer, I would not recomend redrilling the blade but I also might be able to match a blade that is right for you if you would pm me the information, or just post it. I would need length width heights and size of hole.

by the way I would be trying to find it in Oregon(the same as what you just bought)

The Bobcats and Scag are both a 5/8ths hole I think. Anyway I know they are the same. A friend runs a weird setup on JD runs high lift on one of the outside, left or right then different blades on the other two. Says high lifts take to much power on all three. It may be on the right side. Anyway I cant say anything because it really looks nice on all the jobs he does.

Oregon started suggesting that a few years ago for discharge reasons. We sell a lot of sets to our commercial cutters that way and they seem really happy with the blade configuration. But check with a local dealer as I have found what works here does not always work someplace else. It depends on the grasss you are cutting and even the soil, for example here the fusion blades dont help but 20 miles away guys love them as the soil has less sand(they get sandblasted here and wear out just as fast)

J-Thomas has some blades listed for the 7 Irons (listed under zero turns).
I bought 1 set to go on my WB. The blade is 2.5" wide, rather than OEM 3" wide, but hole and length are correct.
They are ALOT cheaper, and I buy all my other blades from J-T, so it is definitely worth a try.

Also, I wouldn't drill that hole larger. Too many risks there. (off balance, integrity of material, ect.)
