From the little bit of stuff I read about the 3000, it looks like there were 2 versions. An early version that didnt have any front suspension and then a later version that is very similar to the 3100. Not really sure beyond that what the differences are or what major improvements make up the 3100 if any.

The 3000 was the model they made before Briggs and Straten bought the company. Briggs owns allot of the mower company's we see everyday. Simplicity and snapper are two of them.
Thanks for the information. Do anyone have any opinions on the is3000z, the one I am getting is for sale in the "pictures" section on here. It has the front suspension.

I've got one and I really like it mostly because of the suspension in combination with a Michigan suspension seat. If you have any rough terrain to mow, it will greatly improve your productivity. The cut works for me though some say it is a bit inferior to other brands. As far as reliability, I have had no issues yet and I have around 475 hours on this machine. If the one that you are looking at is priced reasonably, I think you will be more than happy with it.
