Direct Mail Advertising

    Im interested in doing some direct mail advertising. I'm not sure how to get started. Does anyone have any success stories/horror stories with this method? Where should I begin?

    Doing direct mail is very easy.

    1. Design the mailing (postcard, letter, etc)
    2. Pick the people you want to mail to.
    3. Mail it.

    You wont get a response if you send the wrong message to the wrong people. For example, if you are trying to get customers for mowing, you do not want to send postcards to low income homes or renters. They will not care if their lawn gets cut on a regular basis. Or if you are trying leaf clean ups, you would not send postcards to new developments because there are little or no trees on the properties.

    Direct mail is by far the most productive form of advertising for me.
    The key for me is acquiring the mailing list.
    I have a friend in the real estate bus that gets me an updated mailing list.
    Then I remove the areas I do not want and mail to only the areas I want.
    A good glossy postcard with postage about .20.
    If you go back through my posts my last postcard is on there somewhere.
