I understand your comments, I actually did my own lighting while I'm sure it's not as exact as a professional install it really was a pleasure to do. In the past years the only issue I have is the periodic need to change a bulb. The questions I have for you is

1 do you paint your own house or hire a painter?
2 do you change your own oil and plugs or do you take it to a mechanic?
3 do you cook your own food or go out to dinner every night?
4 do you cut your own grass or utilize on of the great guys on this forum?

I was able to do my own lighting mainly from the comments that the great people on this forum. Its obvious they were not so afraid that if they shared a lighting comment everybody and their brother would be starting a lighting buisness.

Good luck and I hope that someday you may be able to better yourself on the wisdom of others, that is unless your a narcassitic ass.

I'm truly sorry that you took my light-hearted reference to Home Depot as some sort of a personal insult. Frankly, it saddens me every time I see homeowners who have wasted perfectly good money buying "solar" lighting from a big box store.

As for our willingness to share information in this forum; I find the quantity and quality of the information available here to be truly amazing. As you alluded, it was through your free access to many hundreds of years of experience that you were able to create a lighting design for your own home and enjoyed doing it. Congratulations and you are welcome.

I owe you the apology, I read your intent wrong. One of those days, I took it personal which now is obvious was not the intent.

Take care and good luck to you

We moved into a house recently and the house is the only one on the block which does not have outdoor lighting. I have been reading this forum for a while now and have some ideas for placement of lights but am trying to nail down what exactly needs to be where. I have some pictures of the property I would be more than willing to share if some one could help me out. Thanks!

    Just pm me!

This old thread was such a humorous read. The whole time reading it from the beginning, I was thinking.......: is it that hard to understand that this is a thread which should not have any comments other than the very first one? What's even more funny is that I'm now adding more ridiculousness to this thread!! LOL! Please shoot me!

Hey Chris, Almost three years ago, I came upon this forum. I was already a many-year veteran of the green industry, so I disregarded the warning of the original post, and asked a question about lighting the home I was having built.

Dang! At the time, I couldn't even spell liting desiner, now I are one.

Wow, almost 8 years since I started this thread. Do you guys think the original post has outlived its usefulness or should be edited?

It should stand as is. Still one of the most relevant posts on this forum.

Removing or editing the post would suggest this forum is not for pros only, which if comes to pass, you can remove my account.

( I will open a new account under the likes of "Pete Scalia" and simply troll and badger the remaining participants :) )

Easy Stevo. I'll only defend you to a point when it comes to the public and DIY'ers. If your intention is to start handing out trade secrets as well, then I just might have problem with that.
