I had some success of leaving a written estimate on either side of a client and the 3 across the street if I could measure without walking all over the yards (using sidewalks for frontage etc). I know I would not want anyone walking on my yard unless I had called them. Another idea is to get one of your better yards on a street and go door to door inviting them to take a look and see your work.

Yes, it works well, especailly if you are caring for lawns near by. they may not sign right then but after they crusie by the lawn you currently take care of they will look. When they look they will eventually call.
