I want to use the double blade system but am tired of the two blades slipping together. I know they will stay if tightened properly but am tierd of the tightening thing.
Does anyone know where i can find an adapter to keep the blades in an x formation.

Thanks.

Your tired of properly torquing your blade bolts??? Then what happens when one comes off when your tired of being careful!!

I have never had one slip together And if they do, who cares, it is still in balance.

Just be careful man.

There are adapters out there, Eric says DC makes one, but you must have the same width blade with 5/8" center hole.

I would skip the adapter though, just clean the mating surfaces with a wire wheel real good (to bare metal) grind off any high spots on the mating surfaces and tighten them to 120 ft/lbs if it is 5/8" fine thread bolt.

I dont remember a blade comeing off except for when i hit something sticking out from the ground. I have noticed that the left blade, always tightens itself even more when cutting thicker grass. Blades probalby do come off if not tightened enough, but you can also overtighten them to where the bolts will wear into the washers and this is not fun. I tighten them but am tired of having to readjust the double blades every time i hit a mole hole or a high spot.

I have been running double blades for just a few weeks and have hit some stuff without even budging the 6 blades.I hit one of those damn election paper sign holders 3/16 round steel buried in leaves. That did'nt move my blades neither did the 1 1/2x1 1/2 block of steel found in other yard, although it did take a chip out of one.I always wire wheel all my blades before I install them using my 4 1/2 grinder with wire wheel for cleaning welds.I even made a discharge chute cover to help mulch, works great.Like Eric said I had to lower RPM a little to reduce blowout out the front of the deck.Double blades for ever.

You haven't mentioned what mower you have so I looked in your WWW forum post and I guess you have Exmark. What size bolts does that have? If it is 5/8" bolts, you can pick up a set of those brackets at a DC dealer.

Eric i have two dixies at the moment. The exmark i had was hydro60" and it is now sold. The dixies are 60". I called the dixie 800 number today and got no response. Im guessing they are closed on weekends. I am dying to get a pair of these and try them out next spring.

They are closed on weekends, but you will have to order parts through a dealer. The factory has these brackets, but a lot of dealers haven't heard of this yet. The factory started making these after I posted how good double blades were on their forum about 2 years ago. Now everyone just comes here to post so their forum is next to dead or I wouldn't have even mentioned it here.
